For Finale 2010 and later and OSX 10.7 and later. This is a multi-purpose plug-in that creates patterns of various elements in the selected area. Version 1.07 has this functionality:
Beamed Groups
Reorder Notes - Changes the order of the notes entries within each beamed group. Rests inside a beamed group are unaffected.
Merge to Chord - Replaces a beamed group with a chord. The resulting chord will have the duration of the full beamed group.
Articulations - Creates standard articulation patterns for the beamed groups. Only staccato, tenuto and accents are affected.
Slurs - Creates slurs at specific positions on beamed groups. Old slurs in the beamed group are replaced.
Chord Symbols - Creates chord symbols above the start of each beamed group, based on the beamed group’s tonal material.
Chords
Break - Breaks a chord into a single-note sequence that spans the duration of the chord.

Dynamics
Carbon Copy - Copies all dynamics in the region from a source staff to all other selected staves. It can optionally adjust to areas where the destination has no music.
Hairpins - Creates hairpin marking (or hairpin pair) for the width of the selected region. Old hairpins in the region are removed.
Hairpin Swells - Creates cresc+dim hairpin markings (’messa di voce’ markings) on long single notes. Tied notes counts as one note.
Performance Notation
Articulations - Creates or recreates standard articulations according to a specific pattern. Only staccato, tenuto and accents are affected.
Slurs - Creates slurs according to a specific pattern. Slurs break at rests. Tied entries count as one. Grace note slurs are treated independently.
Sequences
Two-state Patterns - Expands a reoccuring sequence that has only two states (an ’ON’ and ’OFF’ state). Exactly 2 notes/rests must be available at the start of the region.
Numbered Measures - Creates a numbered sequence, one expression per measure, for example for a repeated music pattern. The selected category’s font and position info is used.
Delete Numbers - Removes the number expressions that has been added to the region by this plug-in. All other expressions are unaffected.

For Finale 2010 and later, and OS X 10.7 or later. This plug-in is for documents that use live performance data (if the document is using Human Playback, you need to set ’HP (Incorporate Data)’ in the Human Playback Preferences). It syncs the live performance data between staves in the document, so instrument in other staves can follow a performance by another instrument. Start time, end time and velocity for the notes are affected.
Mark the target region where you want to sync the live performance data. Mark the source staff for the groove (to sync to) in the plug-in window. The source staff can be a part of the destination region.
Start time and velocity will be adjusted if source and target notes start at the same position in the notated music. End time will be adjusted if the source and target notes start at the same position, and have the same duration in the notated music.
This plug-in will only work with Finale 2012 and later, and OS X 10.7 or later. It maintains text instructions (as text expressions) at Finale 2012 Instrument Changes for the selected region. The positioning and look of the expressions are handled by the selected category, and the plug-in is smart enough to move/remove instructions if the instrument changes moves/disappears. Generally, it should be safe to apply this plug-in on the whole document to keep the instrument changes visually updated.
The plug-in automatically sets the ’break multi-measure rest’ option in the expressions...would produce something like..

For Finale 2010 and above, and OS X version 10.7 or later. This plug-in contains 9 different note spacing styles that can be applied easily to a region in the document, through a modeless window interface. A feature to set the selected mode as the default for the document is also available.
For Finale 2010 and later versions, and OS X version 10.7 or later. A plug-in that changes all notes of one pitch within the region to another pitch. Useful for example for correcting enharmonic spellings in a region, swap note pitch patterns or change tonality. The window is modeless, so it can be opened while the document is edited.
The top part of the window is a simple one-note pitch change utility. The bottom part of the window contains a multi-pitch part that can be used for more complex pitch replacements. If the Respace option is set, note spacing is applied to the region after the pitch replacements.

A plug-in for Finale 2012 or later. Also requires OS X 10.7 or later. The plug-in copies a page layout from a source part to the currently displayed part, through an easy-to-use user interface. The measure layout for each system gets locked, so the layout will remain the same in source and destination. It will check that measures are empty before parts with multi-measure rests are copied.
The window (where the source part is selected) is modeless, so it can be open while moving between different parts (or documents).

For Finale 2010 or later, and OSX 10.7 or later. This plug-in can create and display staff sets in a list and navigate between the staff sets. Navigation to a staff set can be made in Page View as well. Furthermore, each staff can be named and the staff set names are saved with the document (a category named JW Plug-in Data must exist in the document for this purpose).
When a staff set is created, it inherits the relative vertical staff positions from the selection.
This plug-in also supports windowshade, a feature which can be turned on by using the JW Plug-in Tool plug-in.
For Finale 2010 and later versions. Requires OS X 10.7 or later. This plug-in spaces multimeasure rests and/or single rests relative to their duration, making parts with many rests much more professional and easier to read. Multimeasure rests can be either spaced according to the number of measures or to their durations (in beats). The existing music scaling factor for the document is used. Version 1.01 adds the ability to apply to all parts at once, and to redistribute the existing rest widths (for existing layouts).

For Finale 2010 and later versions. Requires OSX 10.7 or later. This is a plug-in for manipulation/editing of measure number regions and measure numbers. It has the following features:
*Create - Creates a new measure number region that covers the current selection, and splits the underlying region into adjacent regions.
*Join Adjacent Regions - Joins adjacent measure number regions within the selection into one long region. The settings for the earliest region will be used.
*Inherit Adjacent Region Settings - Copies the visual appearance and positioning from the adjacent region. The earliest region’s settings will be used. Useful for exampe if one visual change in one region should be transferred to other regions.
*Delete - Deletes measure number regions that start and end within the current selection. Measure number regions that span the whole document are not affected.
*Cover Holes - Covers measures that lacks measure numbering by extending a previous measure number region.
*Select Previous/Next - Selects the previous/next measure number region in the document.
*Offset Numbering - Changes the relative numbering of the regions that are fully covered by the selection. The value can be both negative and positive.
*Offset Location - Moves the regions location relatively in the document by a measure offset. Regions that are fully covered by the selection are moved.
*Remove Manual Positioning - Resets manually positioned measure numbers in the selection to their default positions.
*Reset Defaults - Deletes all manual edits (forced to be shown/hidden or repositioned) in the selection, to revert to the defaults.
*Align Manual Edits - Top (or Bottom) - Aligns all manual edits in the selection to the highest (or lowest) position found. Each measure number region is treated independently.
*Align All Numbers - Top (or Bottom) - Aligns all numbers in the selection to the highest (or lowest) position found. Each measure number region is treated independently.
*Numbering Style - Changes the numbering style for the measure number region(s) that are fully covered by the selection.
*Prefix/Suffix - Changes the prefix and suffix text for the measure number region(s) that are fully covered by the selection.
*Font Size - Sets the font size (in points) in the region(s) that are fully covered by the selection.
*Relative Font Size - Changes the font size relatively to the current size for measure number regions that are fully covered by the selection.
*Font Style - Changes the font style for measure number regions that fully are covered by the selection.
*Use Document Options’s Font - Copies the current default font for Measure Numbers to the score (or parts) panel of the region.

and some cautions on kernel panics
After a year of waiting, a Macintosh compatible SATA PCI host adapter with more than 2 ports is shipping. We’ve also been praying for an adapter that’s PCI-X rated. Two weeks ago, HighPoint quietly released the Mac drivers for their RocketRAID 1820A 8 channel PCI-X SATA host adapter. It’s been shipping for Window PCs for some time. I was able to observe the performance of the card at the ProMax test lab the day the drivers were released to the public. I was impressed, but (as you can imagine) anxious to test it for myself.

TEST 1: DIFFERENT DRIVES COMPARED
This first series of graphs show how 4 serial ATA drives from 3 different manufacturers performed on the RocketRAID. We put them in a RAID 0 set using SoftRAID 3.0.3. We used DiskTester instead of QuickBench this time because it closely mimics the speeds we saw when the BlackMagic Speed Test was run on a DeckLink equipped G5 tower. In other words, you 10 bit HD jockies can take these numbers to the bank.
What happens when the RAID volume approaches capacity? The speeds drop dramatically. Check out this graph at 90% capacity:

Observations:
1. The Maxtor MaXLine IIIs had faster WRITE speeds than the other brands and models of drive. However, the Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 exhibited faster READ speeds.
2. Notice that Western Digital WD2500JB drives are missing on the graph. We had to return the test units we borrowed before we could test them on the RocketRAID. However, based on tests done some months back on dual SeriTek/1S2s, we are confident they would have been the slowest of the pack.
TEST 2: ADD MORE THAN FOUR DRIVES
What if I put 5, 6, 7 or 8 of the fastest drives on the RocketRAID? How fast would it go? In this updated edition, we were able to stripe up to eight identical MaXLine III drives in a RAID 0 set using SoftRAID. QuickBench was out of the question when you consider that the total cache for 8 MaXLine IIIs is 128MB and QuickBench’s largest block size is 100MB. So, again, we used DiskTeser but this time we used 5GB test file size.
In the last edition of these graphs, we observed what appeared to be a limit of 343MB/s for write speed. This time, with identical drives, we observed an amazing phenom. The six and seven drive RAID sets posted faster write speeds than the eight drive RAID set at 10% capacity. Very interesting. However, the eight drive set showed its stuff as we approached the capacity of the volume. At 90% capacity, it was ’pulling’ harder than the six and seven drive sets.
As you can see, six good performing drives exceed the magic 180MB/s desired to process uncompressed 10bit HD video. And such a set exceeds that number even when the RAID volume approaches capacity.
One very nasty thing happened while we were testing the seven drive raid set. Three times in a row while running the 5 GB Disktester read/write test, our G5 had a grey screen kernel panic half way through the test. A few hours later, I read that an HD Video jockey in Texas had a kernel panic while duplicating a 5 GB file. We’re still probing the limits of this card. If you plan to use this card for production, we want you to know all the problems we’ve encountered.
TEST 3: ONE ROCKETRAID VERSUS DUAL SERITEK/1SE2s
A week after the RocketRAID Mac drivers were released, FirmTek launched their dual port SATA host adapters with EXTERNAL ports. (The RocketRAID has only INTERNAL ports.) What if we wanted to set up a 4 drive external SATA RAID box without kludging cables out an empty PCI slot? Would two SeriTek/1SE2 host adapters with external ports connected to 4 external SATA drives in a RAID 0 set be as fast as putting the same 4 SATA drive RAID set on a RocketRAID?
As you can see, the SeriTek solution would be as fast, but there’s a downside. It takes up two slots on the G5 Power Mac. And to avoid bus contension, one of them has to be in slot 4 -- which many of you reserve for your DeckLink or Kona capture card. That’s why the one card solution is most attractive.
Speed tests are sexy but let’s review the features that are present or lacking in the RocketRAID:
FEATURES or advantages
You have room to grow with 8 ports
It captures 10 bit uncompressed HDTV with 4 or more drives in a RAID 0 set.
The included RAIDMan software supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and JBOD.
It’s compatible with both SSC and non-SSC drives.

It runs on G4 and G5 Power Macs under OS X 10.2 or newer.
It’s an affordable solution ($204 at ZipZoomFly)
’NON-FEATURES’ or deficiencies
None of the 8 ports were external.
You can’t boot your Mac from any drive connected to the RocketRAID.
There’s no hot-swap support. You must Shutdown your Mac to connect/disconnect.
It does not support Deep Sleep
It ’hits the wall’ at 340MB/s WRITE speed, with 5 or more drives in RAID 0 set.
Their RAIDMan utility runs slower than Apple’s RAID software and SoftRAID and limits you to 2 terabytes.
It lacks support for G3 Power Macs with PCI slots
There’s no support for Macs running OS 8, 9 or 10.1
The plastic connectors break easily. (This can be an issue especially if heavily shielded external use data cables are routed out an empty PCI slot to external SATA boxes.)
The included data cables are rated for internal use only. For external use, you should purchase cables with heavier shielding rated for external use and able to combat electronic interference that can compromise your data transfers.
Exhibits the disconcerting tendency to cause kernel panics under certain conditions.
CONCLUSION
The RocketRAID may not be the perfect SATA RAID solution, but right now it’s the only game in town if you want one PCI-X SATA host adapter with more than 2 ports.
I have received email from readers running the RocketRAID who are ecstatic about the results. Others are not so happy. Two have reported various problems. You can read about one user’s experience on the Apple Discussion pages. Both users reporting problems had crammed as many as 10 drives inside their G5. Their problems could be power related, since they are pulling power off either the SuperDrive or factory drives -- which may not provide the steady voltage needed.
Although the RocketRAID has only internal ports, I’m beginning to think that it will work best with the drives in an external box like the ones sold by MacGurus and Granite Digital.
HOW WELL DOES THE ROCKETRAID PERFORM ON A G4 POWER MAC?
We tested four MaXLine III drives (RAID 0 config) on a G4/1.42GHz MP Power Mac (64 bit 33MHz PCI slots). The sustained READ speed was about the same as the G5 (200+ MB/s). However, the sustained WRITE speed was an unimpressive 132MB/s (compared to 280+MB/s on the G5). Moral: If your project requires serious storage throughput, then it might be time to buy a G5 Power Mac.
MORE ON WHY YOU MAY WANT A SATA CONTROLLER WITH MORE THAN 2 PORTS
There are good reasons to have more than 2 ports on a your SATA PCI host adapter. If you have G5 Power Mac with a DeckLink or Kona card in slot 4 and want to control a fast SATA array for capturing 10 bit HD video or for Photoshop scratch, then you really need a single SATA host adapter with at least 4 ports. In spite of its ’non-features,’ the RocketRAID is the only shipping Mac compatible SATA host adapter that fulfills that requirement.
Some of you have created a four drive, four channel SATA array using dual FirmTek SeriTek/1S2 cards. But you’ve also found that if you put them in slot 2 and 3 of your G5, the write speeds go way down. When you put them your G4 tower and span drives across the cards, the speeds go way down. If you are creating a RAID set with more than two drives, you really need a host adapter with more than 2 port/channels. Until someone else offers a four, six, or eight channel Serial ATA PCI-X host adapter, the RocketRAID is the only game in town for extreme Serial ATA RAID 0 sets.
Speaking of extreme, I received an email from a reader who is running eight drives on his RocketRAID and boots from the dual Raptors in the factory slots. Zowee! Mike Curtis filed a report on his website for independent filmakers on his 16 drive array involving the RocketRAID. He has plans for a 16 drive set once he replaces his defective second RocketRAID.

*Login into your Mac

*Make sure you have your drive selected. By the way, choose the first drive you see on the list; you know, the one at the top. Doing otherwise might lead to issues when formatting the WD Passport for Mac.
*Format Your Drive
Find the “View” button at the top left of your Disk Utility window and click it. A drop-down menu will open up.
*Remember, what comes next is formatting. So, make sure your files have been copied off the drive if there are any on it.
*Click on “Erase”
*In the small window that pops up, you’ll have to input a name for the My Passport drive first.
*You’ll find it useful to give a name to your drive to show what you’ll be using the drive for.

A tool like no other. Melodyne is a powerful software application for Windows and OS X with which you can edit audio in a more musical way than was ever thought possible. In Melodyne, you work with notes – and not with a meaningless wave form. You don’t just see where the music gets louder or quieter but also where notes begin and end and at what pitch they lie. Vocals, now even better
Melodyne heightens its core competence. The “Melodic” algorithm used for vocals can now distinguish the unpitched, noise-like components of a note – i.e. voiceless consonants (such as sibilants like “s”) and breath sounds – from its pitched components. Even when they coincide. And although all pitch and timing changes are implemented in the tried-and-tested manner as far as the pitched components are concerned, different rules that emulate accurately the natural behavior of the human voice govern the handling of sibilants. So now when you are working with Melodyne, you obtain the highest possible sound quality and most natural-sounding results automatically.
Pros will be relieved to discover it’s no longer necessary to isolate each individual sibilant by hand. That saves a lot of time and makes for a more meaningful display in the Note Editor. At the same time, the results sound far better, as automation works more precisely and overlaps between sibilants and pitched components are taken into account.
Sibilant detection not only yields acoustic advantages but also new creative possibilities: With the Sibilant Tool, you can adjust the balance between the sibilants and the pitched components of a note. Sibilants can be attenuated, muted altogether, emphasized or even isolated – everything is possible. So, into the bargain, you get a perfect de-esser that only affects the problem areas and has no side-effects on other components of the vocal sound.
Modeled on human hearing
Why do some notes sound out of tune and not others? Fluctuations in pitch contribute to the quality of a vocal performance, because it is through them that passion and emotional complexity find expression. They give it, in other words, its human dimension. But for their contribution to be a positive one, the nature, scope and precise timing of such fluctuations is of crucial importance.
A note doesn’t necessarily sound sharp or flat just because it isn’t “spot on” mathematically. Just particular, often very brief segments of the note annoy us. Sometimes at the beginning, sometimes at the end, sometimes somewhere in between. It is these crucial segments that have to be perfectly in tune; if they are, the note will sound right to us. The presence of any fluctuations before or after to such segments doesn’t trouble us – to the contrary, we feel they add life to the performance and sound natural.
Melodyne now identifies these problem areas precisely, and the offset shown in the Note Inspector is calculated from the pitch of each note at the crucial moment only – not its entire lifetime. As a result, double-clicking (to set a note’s offset to zero) now yields precisely the right musical result. Also the macro profits from this new, even more musical approach: Each individual note is pitched to perfection. Yet everything still sounds natural and alive.
The Chord Track and Chord Grid
Work better with chords, adapt notes quickly. Melodyne 5 offers you a chord track that is linked to the Pitch Grid in the Note Editor. This makes working with chords far more enjoyable and harmonies more transparent. Because you can see at any time which pitches are compatible with the current chord and can adapt the notes accordingly with lightning speed. This is helpful when you’re altering chords, and if you want to match any sample harmonically to your music, it works like a dream.
Autopilot for chords. Melodyne’s chord recognition technology is so advanced, it can consider tracks apart or together – even the entire mix – and identify the chords formed when their notes are combined. It analyses your recordings fast and reliably and fills in the Chord Track automatically. This makes working with chords even easier.

When Apple announced the Retina display MacBook Pro, one of the applications which they demonstrated with it was Photoshop. But not a release version of Photoshop. The current release version of CS6 opens images at the same size, and the same resolution, as on a non-Retina display MBP. In comparison, Apple’s own Preview app opens images at half the width and height as 100% view, and displays all the pixels in the image at that size. For comparison here is an image at 100% view in Preview on the right, and viewed at the same size in Photoshop CS6 on the left. If you look at the narrow yellow leaf stems at the focal center of the image (left of center in the crops shown here), you can see the difference; be sure to click on the image to see at full size.
I expect that the Retina display update to Photoshop will be free… for CS6 owners. But it is unlikely that Adobe will update Photoshop 5 to Retina resolution, as one more reason for users to update to CS6.

Microsoft Word 1.0 was released for Mac in 1984 and soon became the Mac’s dominant word processing app. Microsoft Excel 1.0 was a Mac-first application and arrived in 1985. PowerPoint 1.0 came in 1987, three years ahead of the first Windows version.

Since SPSS Amos is only available to run under a Windows configuration, you have two choices. Install Windows as a Virtual Machine with a host program such as Parallels Desktop or use Boot Camp to create a Windows partition on your machine and run it there.
No, you can not run CFA in SPSS. You have to use LISREL, AMOS, EQS, or MPLUS to perform such analysis. The AMOS is the most user-friendly software of all; EQS is the second one. I want to install IBM SPSS Amos on Mac OS. Is there a version of Amos that is compatible with Mac OS?

Since you only have 128GB of storage I would probably recommend going with Parallels (that, and it’s what I use so I’m more comfortable with it). You would need to purchase Parallels ($80 USD or so?) and whichever copy of Windows you prefer (and SPSS Amos might use a particular flavor of Windows most efficiently so you’ll need to Google and ask around).
